Eating Well for You and Baby: Pregnancy Nutrition Tips

Discover what to eat—and what to avoid—so you can nourish your body and support your baby’s development throughout pregnancy.

Ahead of your visit, we’ll collect some background on your health, menstrual cycle, and any symptoms or pregnancy tests you’ve taken. You may be asked to arrive with a full bladder for ultrasound imaging, and we recommend jotting down any questions you have—we’re here to talk through all of them.

Your provider will confirm your pregnancy with a physical exam, lab work, or early ultrasound. We’ll talk through your medical history, due date, and any symptoms you’re experiencing, and begin outlining a prenatal care schedule that fits your pregnancy journey. This is also a great time to ask about nutrition, exercise, or medications you’re unsure about.

You’ll leave with clear next steps and a personalized care plan—including when to schedule your next visit, which supplements to take, and what early milestones to watch for. If any labs or scans were ordered, we’ll follow up with results and recommendations quickly. And if questions come up between visits, our team is always just a call or message away.

What to Expect at Every Stage of Your Pregnancy

From your very first visit, our goal is to make you feel informed, supported, and completely cared for. We’ll walk with you through every stage—answering questions and adjusting your care plan as your needs evolve.

Insurance Information

Most insurance plans cover standard pregnancy care—including prenatal visits, routine ultrasounds, lab work, and labor and delivery—when you’re receiving in-network care. Some services, like genetic testing or optional screenings, may have partial or no coverage depending on your plan. Our team is happy to verify your benefits ahead of time and walk you through any out-of-pocket costs, so you can focus on your pregnancy, not the paperwork.

Ready to Feel Confident About Your Pregnancy Care?

We recommend scheduling your first visit around 8 weeks after your last menstrual period, or as soon as you confirm your pregnancy.

We’ll confirm your pregnancy, estimate your due date, review your health history, and perform basic labs or an early ultrasound. It’s also your chance to ask all your questions.

Most pregnancies follow a schedule of monthly visits until 28 weeks, then biweekly until 36 weeks, and weekly until delivery. High-risk pregnancies may need more frequent monitoring.

Fatigue, nausea, breast tenderness, and mood changes are all common. But don't hesitate to reach out if you’re unsure or something doesn’t feel right..

Avoid alcohol, tobacco, high-mercury fish, certain medications, and deli meats unless heated. We’ll give you a complete list of safe and unsafe foods and activities.

Yes, in most cases! Low-impact activities like walking, swimming, or prenatal yoga are encouraged. We’ll help tailor guidance to your body and pregnancy stage.

Light spotting can be common, especially in early pregnancy, but it's important to call us if you notice persistent cramping, heavy bleeding, or pain.

Not necessarily. We schedule ultrasounds based on medical milestones, typically around 8 weeks, 20 weeks, and as needed. Additional scans may be done if you’re high-risk.

A daily prenatal vitamin with folic acid, iron, calcium, and DHA is ideal. We can recommend trusted brands and help adjust for your specific needs.

You’re not alone. Emotional changes are common, and we’re here to support your mental well-being just as much as your physical health—with resources, screenings, and compassionate care.
